Talk about more music here!| When you travel with your family, do you have problems feeding your kids? | | I just came back from a week-long vacation in Hong Kong, China. I must say despite its size (it's a small city), it is an amazing and magnificent place. My kids enjoyed the famous destinations - the Hong Kong Disneyland, the Ocean Park, the Victoria Peak, among others.Yes, The Kids enjoyed all right. Except when it comes to meals. My kids are picky eaters, they only eat spaghetti and pizza, and no other(other than native dishes in my country -sinigang, nilaga, etc, which they love but can't be found in Hong Kong). I didn't know that McDonalds and KFC in Hong Kong don't offer spaghetti(in my country they do). So my kids settled for french fries from McDonald's. Good thing we brought chips-ahoy and chocolates, these became the main food/dish of my kids, together with the french fries from McDonald's - I know, not healthy foods, yes, but I didn't want them to starve to death, so I allowed it while we're there. And we stayed there for 7 days! Didn't want to ruin their vacation by forcing them to eat something they don't want. Have you encountered this kind of problem? Are your kids difficult to feed when when they're not in their "comfort zone"?... | |

it is said that prevention is better than cure. best way to ensure your child is safe from diseases is to ensure that he is properly innoculated. can anyone shed more light on this subject?

| | Leave my kids alone - deal with your own! | | My kids are aged 5 and 3. My sister has a son who is a few months younger than my son (2 and a half). I don't discipline her child when she is around, because its not my place - I would only ever discipline him when I am taking care of him. Yet my sister seems to think she can butt in whenever my kids misbehave - even if I'm already dealing with it! Today, my son was overtired and upset, and wanted to be left alone, and my nephew was literally right in his face and wouldn't leave him alone when my boy asked him to. I gently led him away to avoid a problem, while my sister sat right there and just watched. Her kid went straight back and started jumping all over mine again, but as she didn't do anything, my son threw a tantrum and headbutted his cousin and made his mouth bleed.Fair enough, he shouldn't have done it, but she had every chance to prevent a problem, and I had immediately taken my son out of the room to talk to him and deal with what happened, so did she need to start shouting at my kid and storm around in a mood? I know if her child had been the one to cause the injury, she would have made excuses for him, and anyone else shouting at him would have been unacceptable... | |
| | Dr Seuss The Butter Battle Book, have you or would you let your kids read it? | | During the time it was written it was more directed at the cold war but do you think it still holds any relevance to today's political climate? The story involves two different communities who are basically the same but one likes butter on top of their bread and the other on the bottom. As the war between them escalates they come up with more outrageous weapons till in the end there is a face off with each side waiting to destroy the other side. | |
| | can kids help save marriage? | | my friend and her husband's relationship turned to sour-- he was always with his friends and even started having se.x with other woman, my friend in turn wanted out. but what kept her from doing so is because of the kids. she said that she was being martyr because of the kids. i mean personally, if she's not happy already why stay with him? are the kids enough reason for a wife to stay?what do you think? | |
| | At what age do kids get cell phones? | | I was talking to one of the mom's in my daughter's class. She has an 11 year old daughter who is soon to be 12 - and for their birthday they are giving her a cell phone. If that wasn't the shockeroo for me, she told me that was considered "late" in her daughter's circle of friends. Apparently most kids have cell phones by age 12 - in fact most elementary school kids have them. Really????? I can't imagine giving my daughter a cell phone in just a few years from now (she's 5). When do you think is appropriate to give kids cell phones? But besides your opinion, when ARE the kids around you getting cell phones? Heck, I think when I was 12 I wanted my ears pierced - sheesh!! | |
| | Parents and their kids (no matter what age) on Facebook . . . | | I noticed some of my teen/young adult friends have their parents as their Facebook friend . . . others are not connected with them even though they have FB accounts (and I have both parents and their kids on my friend list). Of course I notice that the young ones with the parents on there are not as racy and are on their better behavior - hee hee. Most of them have a trusting, open book relationship with their parents. I have a parent friend who doesn't want to go on her grown daughter's list - she thinks it's an invasion of her daughter's privacy. But the grown daughter WANTS her mom there . . . so I guess it really depends on the person! Are your parents your "friends" on Facebook? Why or why not? Would you want your own kids to add you in as a friend for safety issues perhaps, or would you let them have their total privacy? My parents are not my friends on Facebook - but that's because they don't use the computer at all.[em]silly[/em] | |
| | how do you discipline your kids? | | i have a 2yo daughter and i guess she is in this stage what one calls "terrible twos." she's pushing all her limits, testing her abilities and our patience as well. she wants to assert herself always. sometimes what she does is something that i dont approve of, but she gets very demanding and cries like crazy. she refuses ro brush her teeth or get her teeth brushed, we have a hard time bathing and feeding her, etc etc. how do you discipline your kids in this regard? do you spank? give time outs? ignore? or talk to them? i tried talking to her but all she does is wail and cry.any opinions and thoughts you care to share? | |
