Joe's new cd Signature
I got the new Joe cd and all I have to say is the Grammy goes to..(drum roll)...Joe...(crowd applause)... I've enjoyed all of his cds but there were always a couple tracks on the cd that I didn't too much care for. He regrouped on this cd with his Signature Sound. What is your favorite Joe cd/song and why?

Do You Love Wind Chimes? Directions Included
I have always loved wind chimes. I love to hear the wonderful music that they play when their is a gentle breeze in the air. I love the loud music that they make when a storm is just beginning to brew. I dont know when my love for wind chimes developed but I now collect them. I have many of various sizes and prices on my front and back porch. I remember once that I found a wind chimb that I wanted so badly. It made the most beautiful music that I had ever heard. It was in hallmark. It was way to expensive for us to afford. It was $99.99. Wow that is alot of money but everytime I was in the store, i found myself really wanting them badly. That year, for my birthday, hallmark sent me a gift certificate for 50% off any item in the store. That windchime was going to be mine! I went to get it. It was onsale for 1/2 price. Normally you could not use the gift certificate for sale items but the clerk let me. They wanted rid of the windchimes. I got that set for 25 buck and I was so happy. It is still my favorite. It is on my back porch where I can listen to it when I cook and do dishes. I looked it over and it would be so easy to make. Since then I have made several different kinds of...
who here is into Metal?
Who are the best metal bands in terms of creativity and songwriting ability? For me, 1. Symphony X - the kings of songwriting..so many unique chord changes and musicality makes them the best on the list..the best songwriting showcase is on V - The New Mythology Suite. 2. Opeth - The kings of Swedish metal, and Michael's voice never ceases to amaze me...check out Still Life or Ghost Reveries. 3. The Dillinger Escape Plan - Perfectly organized chaos marks their signature sound..although perfectly executed and great, once you get past the vocal "style". 4. Shadow Gallery - Some amazing songs, especially on Room V. 5. Kamelot - The Black Halo is by far their best.. 6. Zero Hour - Another great band... 7. Tool - Some great music, especially on Lateralus, but monotony in their sound makes them a bit hard to digest sometimes.. 8. Dream Theater - A great band with top-notch musicians, but their songwriting doesn't flow as well as most others on this list.. 9. System of a Down - Had to put them on here. Some great creativity in their songwriting, especially on their first disc..10. Nightwish - The orchestration on "Once" is just out of this world...excellent.
The 2 Styles of New Age Piano Playing
Believe it or not, there is actually a hard and a soft way to play New Age piano. Two different "schools" or styles that have made their appearance in the last 20 years or so.The first style made popular by George Winston introduces a more percussive "hard" sound. Created mostly be a left-hand ostinato, this style is very chord-oriented and paints a background of textures while the right-hand is free to improvise a melody. The reason that I say this style is a hard sounding one is that when compared with someone like David Lanz, the difference is readily apparent.Lanz goes for a softer, more melodic approach. This isn't to say that either of these artists has never played in different ways, it's just that their signature sound is different. As an example, look at the piece "Rainforest." It is a percussive piece made up of a left-hand ostinato pattern. Now the piece "Ocean Dreams" is softer with the melody actually taking center stage. It's a good idea to familiarize yourself with both styles. When I first started playing, I identified mostly with the "Winston" style but find myself leaning more towards a softer style now. I really like the pianist John Herberman off...
