| | Is there a particular singer or song that gets you weeping? | | I'm sitting here in a bit of a booze haze and listening to some music and starting to get a little misty eyed. Now, it may simply be the booze but I don't think so. I'm listening to lisa gerrard (formerly of Dead can Dance) and she always brings me close to tears. I went to see her in concert a couple of weeks ago (had to go alone) and sat there like an idiot for the whole show with a massive lump in my throat.....is there anyone that has that type of effect on you guys? | |
| | trivia for the movie gladiator | | I was inspired looking up for bits of trivia about the movie "Gladiator" when I responded to another discussion about the movie. of course, I got to watch "Gladiator" agian on HBO twice yesterday so here it is. Gladiator fans enjoy:Like modern day athletes, ancient Roman gladiators did product endorsements. The producers considered including this in the script but discarded the idea as unbelievable.'Russell Crowe (I)' began shooting for Gladiator a few months after The Insider (1999) wrapped. He had gained upwards of 40 pounds for his Oscar-nominated role in The Insider and yet lost it all before Gladiator began. He claims he did nothing special other than normal work on his farm in Australia.Lou Ferrigno was originally cast as Tigris of Gaul, but was replaced during production by Sven-Ole Thorsen who had been lobbying hard for the part.Oliver Reed suffered a fatal heart attack during filming. Some of his sequences had to be re-edited and a double, photographed in the shadows and with a 3D CGI mask of Reed's face, was used as a stand-in. The film is dedicated to his memory.Connie Nielsen found the 2000-year-old signet ring which she wears in the movie,... | |
| | I know I'm drunk when...... | | I'm sitting here with a vey happy glow on and listening to my Itunes prty shuffle when on comes a song by Lisa Gerrard and I am crying like an idiot. I don't know what it is about her that turns me into a babbling idiot when I've been drinking. I'm going through the list now making sure that no other songs by her are coming on. | |
| | Preparing to embarass myself in public | | I'm off to a concert tomorrow night and am faced with a possibly embarrasing situation. I am going to see Lisa Gerrard (formerly of Dead Can Dance.....which was enough to prevent anyone from coming with me so have to go it alone). The problem is that her voice has brought me to tears on a number of occassions...there are 1 or 2 songs in particular that will make me weep like a 45 year old spinster watching "Dirty Dancing". It's going to be tough to explain this to the people around me (given my absolute inability to speak as I make those horrendous, wracking, sobbing noises)....It's a no-smoking event so I cant blame the smoke, and I have no allergies to blame the watery eyes on, so, starting now, I am going to try and convince myself that I have a terrible case of pink-eye so that when I compose myself, I can confidently pass it off as that. | |
