Talk about more music here!| autopsy on the big bopper | | KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The son of "the big Bopper" has hired a forensic anthropologist to try to answer questions about how his father died in the 1959 plane crash that also took the lives of famous early rock `n' rollers Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens.Jay Richardson, who performs tribute shows as "the big Bopper Jr.," hopes an examination of his father's remains will settle rumors a gun might have been fired on board the plane, and tell whether the big Bopper might have survived the crash impact and died trying to go for help."I'm not looking for any great bombshell, but then again you never know," Richardson said in a recent phone interview from his home outside Houston.J.P "the big Bopper" Richardson is buried in Beaumont, Texas. After his remains are studied they will be reburied and a life-sized statue put up aside the grave.Jay Richardson never knew his father, who soared to rock fame with his late `50s hit, "Chantilly Lace." His mother was pregnant with him when his father died. The rock 'n' roll stars died on Feb. 3, 1959, when their four-passenger plane crashed after taking off from the Mason City, Iowa, airport — a tragedy memorialized as "the day the music died" in Don McLean's song "American Pie."The group had been traveling by bus on their "The Winter Dance Party" tour in the Midwest, but Holly chartered the plane because the bus was cold and prone to breaking down.Following a concert in Clear Lake, Iowa, Waylon Jennings, a member of Holly's band, gave up his seat on the plane to Richardson, who was feeling ill and seeking a shorter trip to the next stop.An autopsy was performed on the pilot's body, but not on the...

| | In memory of the day the music died Feb long but worth the read | | One day in early February 1959, a 13-year-old in New Rochelle, New York, cut open the stack of newspapers he was about to deliver and read that three rock ’n’ roll stars, Buddy Holly, J. P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson, and Ritchie Valens, had died in a plane crash in Iowa. The boy later said he felt “like someone had punched me in the face.” It was a feeling shared by many in America and around the world. Years later, in 1971, that paperboy, Don McLean, would write the song “American Pie,” which gave an enduring name to the event: the Day the Music DiedA reference to the beloved "sock hop".(Leather-soled street shoes tear up wooden basketball floors, and rubber-soled sneakers grip too much for dance moves, so dancers had to take off their shoes.)Man, I dig those rhythm 'n' bluesSome history. Before the popularity of rock and roll, music, like much else in the U. S., was highly segregated. The popular music of black performers for largely black audiences was called, first, "race music", later softened to rhythm and blues. In the early 50s, as they were exposed to it through radio personalities such as Allan Freed, white teenagers began listening, too. Starting around... | |

OMG! | | The Big Bopper” Richardson’s casket, made of 16-gauge steel, was exhumed last year so the singer’s remains could be moved to a more visible location with a statue and historic marker. His son Jay Richardson, the singer’s son (born three months after his father’s death)is willing apparently to sell the casket because of it's historical significance. EEEWWWW!

| | Awesome Concert | | Well I went and saw No Show Jones last night at the casino. George Jones was awesome for his age. The show was a total of 2 hours and 10 minutes long. During most the show there was a slide show being shown on the big screens in the aditorium. During the song, "Fill Thier Shoes" they showed pictures of many deceased singers like Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Big Bopper, June Carter etc. There was one song which touched my heart deeply. It's called "50,000 Names" It is a song about the veterans from the Viet Nam war whose names are on the wall in Washington D.C.etc. I actually started to cry seing scenes on the big screen from The war itself and some of the names being shown from the wall etc. Now George Jones was a bit hoarse during the show but he held up well and sounded great as well. He did a lopng medely of his hitd from his start in the 50's up until now. My all time fave he sang last night was "Me and Jesus Got A Thing". This is the shirt and hat I got from the show also. I had a blast last night. So what was the last concert you have been to?
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~
